This morning I opened the window to find its been raining. It rained yesterday too. As summer was confidently striding in unexpected rains lashed out. Today it is six degrees cooler than yesterday.  And that’s quite and sudden cold.

Rain always makes me sad. A kind of wistful sadness. The downcast look of the sky adds to it.

Today, I felt like capturing the sky in a video. The prattle of the rain stopped a bit to continue again. In spite of the mood of the day, the vegetable seller is right on time. You can hear his voice in the background.

Again, to go with the rainy day, I came across this beautiful passage on FB and thought of sharing.

I thought it was appropriate for today. Rain brings in nostalgia too. The word that comes to mind reading this passage is sadaude.

Sadaude is a Portuguese word. It’s one of those untranslatables. I guess all untranslatables are culture-specific or deeply ingrained in the temperament of a particular populace.

Early morning reading Ganga’s post on GenX I kind of felt prehistoric and said so in the comment. GenX is the generation born between 1965 and 1970. As suggested by her, I googled to find more about my generation.

So, I am still a baby and that I guess will lift me up from my saudade.

Incidentally, have any of you read Milan Kundera? If you have, do let me know.

Here’s a little poem to make up for the grey climate outside.

A rainy day

A sip of chai

A little chit chat

Let time go by

Hum a tune

Tap your feet

To the prittle

Prattle of rain

All is not perhaps

In vain on this

Sultry day of rain

Say goodbye to

All your woes

Welcome friends

And also foes

A rainy day is

Meant for that

To forgive and

Forget what

Has gone by

A rainy day

A sip of chai

A little chit chat

Let hours fly by

Having said that I am off to prepare breakfast which I think is the most difficult task of the day because I am never sure what to break my fast with.

Traa…Laa…Laa

I like your humming, gc. I like rain as well as sunshine. We need the balance in it in our land for the well-being of all. It sounds like that vendor is so hard working. Happy Friday, gc

Thank you so much Hazel. Yes, both rain and sun are required. But this rain was unexpected and it has brought back cold which is quite anti to the climate of this month. Anything untimely is worrisome. Yes, the vendors are generally hard working because they live in their daily earnings. Stay healthy and safe Hazel. God bless.
