This is in response to Rochelle’s Weekly Photo Prompt for the Friday Fictioneers.

Word Count : 100

My mother was an expert cook. But she was never complacent or boastful. In fact, she was always  doubting her own expertise.

According to her, the lavish meals she served, were never up to the mark. However, every single time they turned out to be grand gastronomic experiences.

I am just her opposite. Temperamental in the kitchen and airy about my culinary disasters.

However the dish may turn out, my standing instruction is to “relish it and heap praises on the ‘cooker’, sorry, cook.”

Haha! That is too funny, Geeta. We don’t always inherit our mother’s culinary gifts!

My wife worked in a professional kitchen for over 20 years. Most of the time, she creates the same sorts of meals, it being just the two of us. Occasionally, she’ll experiment with recipes she finds online. She actually owns very few cookbooks.

It’s funny how we deviate from our parents, yet still have so many of their traits.

Haha, this made me smile! Moms will cook an absolute five-star feast and apologize that the salt is off, while we demand a standing ovation just for not burning the kitchen down. Love your house rule! Hey, I am Emily from GalaxyonKnowledge.Blogspot.com
