Uncle stretched his hand leftward…Then rightward…Then drew an arc in the air.
We were on a cycle rickshaw.
The driver happily paddled on straight ignoring his directions.
No signboards on road.
The locals knew the route by heart.
But was he not a local ?
Uncle said he was – appointed to drive us around our entire staycation.
“Why don’t you tell him the right route?”
“He is stone deaf.”
“But you are giving directions to his back turned on you.”
“Oh!” Uncle tapped him on the shoulder.
“Eh!”
