This poem is in response to Sadje’s Weekly Photo Prompts on #Whatdoyousee

The Dervish swirled on the sand dunes
Whipping the gold particles up in air
His twirling robe a sight for sure
He had sold his cybertruck of yore
To feel his two feet cracked and sore
On the gentle bosom of mother earth
He met a caravan by and by … a monk like him
Curious but shy who asked him after a while
What made him wed a nomadic life
The Dervish replied with a smile ” I had my
Cup full to the brim. But now it’s empty upto
The rim. Time to refill the emptiness with gems
I pick on the way. I am no more a lavish prince
Gone astray. But a wanderer with an empty
Soul… fill me up empty me more and then refill
Me…again and again and again my dear friend

This poem is greatly inspired by Urdu poet, Mir Taqi Mir’s ghazal : ” Yaaron mujhe muaff rakho main nashey mein hoon...”

I love the vibes of your sufi Kalam Geeta. Thank you for joining in with this profound poem.

What a wonderful response! I like where your thoughts took you and the way they returned to the cup.
