Our local temple has a charitable dispensary where  a very competent lady doctor visits every evening except Sundays. Right behind her chamber is the physiotherapy centre managed by two extremely efficient and empathetic technicians.

The space is small but homely frequented not only by residents of nearby Blocks but also from neighbouring and far off localities. The dispensary has gathered popularity by word of mouth.

The two chambers , i.e., the doctor’s clinic and the therapy room have a connecting door in between which is shut when the doctor is in and examining the patients.

One of the technicians, a young girl,  is very curious about the doctor – from her punctuality to management of the interconnecting door.  Her observations oscillate between astuteness and amusement.

Yesterday the doctor herself needed a bit of therapy. The girl obliged. Throughout the session they both chatted amiably. Their voices dropped at times as though they were discussing some intimate details. Their amiability comes as a real surprise after the girl’s regular “espionage” on the physician.

Human reactions stem from deeper roots than visible on the surface. We cannot judge a book by it’s cover. Sometimes we also fail to fathom a book even after reading it.

Today the girl greets the doctor cordially.

Hope an entente is in place.

😊😊

Ha Ha, we are not eavesdropping but it makes it more curious when two people drop their voices 😀!

      Hehh…Hehh…I am the omnipresent observer.

I heard the young girl’s running commentary on the doctor for a fortnight during my therapy. Then I observed her getting comfortable with her. I find that intriguing how a person’s reactions change with close interactions.

It’s always nice to see people connect on a personal level. We never know what’s going on in another person’s life, so leading with empathy and compassion is the right path.

Sometimes, we don’t understand or misconstrue people’s reactions. Perhaps the young girl was longing for this personal interaction. Perhaps she wanted the doctor’s attention or proximity. One never knows. Glad they forged a bond.

I have seen such things during my service Geeta Di,the employee who used to say a lot of things about the Head in the staffroom was the most pleasing person in his/her presence.
Maybe that is their way of life.
