I always wished
For a little house
With a garden
The house
Sunny
Airy
Roomy
The garden
Fragrant
Well tended
Verdant
And chirpy
With birdsong
I live in a flat now
Well built
Spacious
Cozy
Peaceful
But somehow I feel
I would have been
Happier
In my dream house
More comfortable perhaps
More at peace with myself
It’s just a thought
But it plagues me
Day and night
Unreasonably so

Garden is always beautiful! It really changes your mood but a lot of work. Nice poem.

Yes, I agree. A lot of hard work. Dreams exclude that. 😆

It’s great to have a garden. Ours is communal, but the neighbours have expropriated it. 😩

Here’s there is a lot of encroachment. You can say misappropriation. Dreaming is something else and maintaining a property’s hard reality. We have to take into consideration so many things.

To be fair, I’m not up to gardening now. If we had one, we’d have to pay someone to tend it.

Same here. I have to take help of the gardeners though my garden is very very small.

It is good to have a spacious house,a garden and chirping birds, but then it is all about where our destiny takes us.
I humbly request you whenever you like come and spend time with me here.
Maintaining garden will be your responsibility 😂

Hehh…Hehhh ..Thanks for the invitation. तहे दिल से। We always crave things we don’t have. But happiness and peace very much reside where we are.

We all aspire to have a garden but if you are living in Kolkata, it’s a tough call.
there was a friend who aspire to have a garden where he would have the morning tea reading the newspaper while his German Shepard would be running around him.
But you have a good harvest.

Yes, to have a garden , in any city, is a tough call. Thank you for being here.

This speaks so deeply to that quiet longing many of us hold onto, Gita! It’s so easy for our minds to wander to that ‘ideal’ garden home, even when where we are is perfectly comfortable. Lovely and relatable poem! 🌿🏡

A gentle poem about the difference between having a comfortable home and feeling truly at home. Sometimes, the place we dream of represents an inner peace we are still longing to find.

You are so right Vijayji. But it can be an illusion as well.

A very relatable feeling. I think everyone has a secret wish for a place like this, quiet and serene, far from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Yes, that’s true. Thank you so much.

It’s human nature to want what we don’t have. But imagine how more work would a house need. The garden would need tending, the front gate would need to be open and closed when visitors come and lots more money required to maintain it.

Hehh….Hehhh…you’ve caught the essence of the poem. We want what we don’t have. But if we have what we want it may lose its charm. I perfectly agree with you. For me the flat is good enough. Thank you dear sis.

I am asking my husband that we should move into an apartment! Lot less hassle.

Hugs, gc. Is park or a public garden somewhere is accessible to you. Probably it helps?
