These monthly wrap-up posts since February are primarily to keep a track of my healing along with a few other add-ons.
Season: March is the harbinger of spring this part of the globe but it’s also the month which bids farewell to the season.
For the last two weeks during the day a dazzling sun beams down while by the afternoon a dark and overcast sky brings in sudden showers – not too heavy but the temperature shoots down – a relief!

Health : Been visiting the ENT Specialist due to recurrent throat infection – (most probably a decline in immunity) – an old school medical practitioner believes in prescribing not too heavy medication.
Yet, I cannot hold the dosages for long – follow loss of appetite, stomach upset, overall fatigue and body ache – disrupting daily routine – especially, walks and exercises for the time being put to a halt.
Lost three and a half kilos in one week which made me happy and unhappy given the sudden spells of heart palpitations. Not any crash dieting just a little bit of tweaks here and there – less sugar, carb less dinner, lighter meals and things like that.
Surrounds : Trial runs of the new Metro line right outside the block are on. Can hear the trains rushing past from inside the flat. Will make a video soon.
Two days back my Champa tree got a real shaving. Bunches of recently bloomed flowers were casualties. 😭
Advantage – more sunlight for other plants. Disadvantage – anticipated increase in heat inside – worrisome because I am averse to artificial cooling systems.
A long stem growing perpendicular in the money plant pot was a surprise – turned out to be weed which has since been scooped out. More new leaves sprouting. Glad.

Books And Binges : After one historical tome, half way into another collection of short stories around historical figures. Too much history – have to change the subject now.
More into soft themes – started on Doctor Bahu (Pakistani Serial). Kdrama Can This Love Be Translated is still not over. Also in the bucket list are a few retros. Made In Korea, a multi lingual movie, was an interesting watch. Back to Bong movie – Projapoti 2 and dramas from the other side of river Padma (Bangladesh) – short, cute, fun and romantic.
In audio stories now listening to Nilesh Misra. More on this later.
Family Time : An unexpected family bash – quite happening but tiring. The venue near the Airport was a long drive! The catch-ups went on way past lunch. Was afraid the hotel staff might shove us out. Thankfully saved.😂
Heavy duty emotional moment meeting my grand niece for the first time. Yes, the tiny fairy was in the city!!! No pics to maintain digital privacy.
A Few Missed Opportunities: A Heritage Walk, so very much looking forward to, never happened. 😢
The community service planned for the 4th of March, father’s anniversary day , had to be postponed twice as it coincided first with Holi and thereafter with the arrival of my grand niece.
Experiments And Innovations: Innovated with induction cooking. Sustainable. Only the water quotient in preparations has to be checked as evaporation is less compared to gas stove.
Warfare against mosquitoes the alternate way – burning egg crates – a tip off from one of my house-helps – surprisingly effective!!
Since my Echo Dot was giving trouble switched over to FM Radio. So you can go backwards in technology too.

Culinary Adventures: The Nepali dish Chukauni has become quite a staple. Tried Machher Tauk for the first time which is a tangy fish curry for the summers. Turned out well.
Phew….
Quite a lengthy list. Makes me feel very ‘accomplished’. Ahem… May have left out a few. If I remember later may edit the post.
Till then…

Such an honest and relatable wrap-up… the little details made it feel so real. Hope you feel better soon 😊

Quite a list for a month. Don’t you think recurrent throat infections are due to the excessive pollution. Take care of yourself.
I felt sad about pruning of champa tree but it must be necessary.

It’s been raining. No pollution at present I think.

Your wrap -up is both impressive and inspiring. You are doing well,MashaAllah , except for some health issues.
Take care ,dear friend.
One more thing, maybe burning egg crates and the smoke thereof is the cause of throat infection.

Dear Nusrat,
I have tried burning egg crates only once or twice that too in the balcony shutting the main door.
I think it’s a kind of infection…affecting the throat.
And lately I am not burning anything because सारे मच्छर भाग गए लगता है । 😃😃

This felt like such a warm, lived-in March, Geeta Ji, almost like walking through your month with you, sunshine, showers and all 😊
Health does sound like it’s asking for a bit more attention right now, those sudden weight changes and palpitations especially. Do take it slow and give your body the time it’s clearly asking for. Sometimes “doing less” is the real discipline.
Your Machher Tauk, perfect instinct for the season. In peak summers and heatwave-like days, we also lean into tauk dal and all kinds of tangy chutneys. They somehow balance the body without us even thinking in technical terms.
Are you Bong, or is there a Bong connection somewhere? 😊 Your cultural mix- food, films, music, has such a beautifully layered feel.
I must confess, I’m quite the opposite when it comes to watching habits. I don’t really follow TV or series, though I love watching films before bed… even if one film sometimes takes me a week to finish! Old Bangla movies, though, that’s a space I keep going back to. There’s a certain quiet depth there that’s hard to find now.
New Hindi and popular English films I do watch, but they demand more effort than they used to, either the storytelling has changed, or perhaps we have. Korean content I’ve only heard about through the younger lot, my son keeps me updated! 😊
And your month does sound “accomplished”.
Also… which part of Delhi are you in? I was just telling Aparna, we should catch up sometime. Would be lovely to turn these conversations into a real one over chai ☕

Firstly, thanks for this elaborate comment. Made me so happy. I am glad the post resonates with you.
Secondly, I am definitely a Bengali. We say bhaate maachhe bangaali that is we cannot do without rice and fish. And that is what I am. That tauker daal you mentioned is my favourite too along with the chutneys – summer staples.
Thirdly, I love watching all kinds of movies. Bengali movies have , I believe, lost their sheen. Some are still good but not like the older ones.
Fourthly, spread over the months these ‘accomplishments’ are not that hectic.
Fifthly, I am based in Delhi. The Bloggers’ meet will definitely be something to look forward to and more so over a steaming cup of chai.
Yes, my health is at present a serious concern but nevertheless.
And last but not the least loved your comment on this post.
God bless

Taking a break today! Ironically, breaks never quite turn out to be downtime, do they? I’ve learnt how to read and write Bangla, kintu bolbar khub practice neyi. . I’m not the typical ‘Maachh-bhat’ person and don’t actually cook fish at home, but I’m lucky to have neighbours who share their fish with me😊, knowing I enjoy it even if I don’t prepare it myself.
These interactions are so precious, take care! 🤗❤

I too don’t prepare fish at home too often because of the smell and the efforts required. But I don’t have generous neighbours who’d share.
Take care and take good rest.
