The house was in shambles.
The walls wobbly…roof cracked.
The cobwebbed windows broken.
The wooden panes rotting.
The smell was in the air.
The doors unhinged.
Only the garden seemed green and alive.
I immediately said yes to the broker.
He seemed surprised, hemmed and hawed a bit and then said,” Ahem! I’d be honest with you. This place is rumoured to be haunted.”
I smiled, “Never mind! I”ll deal with that when the time comes.”
Handing over the cheque I thought to myself, “He still doesn’t know I am one of them.”
What fun…

Great Geeta – you’ve masterfully used a classic horror trope and flipped it on its head with a sharp, witty twist 🙌

It’s only fair that a ghost owns the haunted house. That was a fun read.

I thought she was won over by the garden at first, I was not expecting that twist. Great story.

Such a witty and deep poem, Ma’am! I resonate with your thought- sometimes we are haunted by others, and sometimes we haunt someone else’s memories~
