This is in response to Sadje’s Weekly Photo Prompts on #Whatdoyousee.

buffet lunch
we talk of everything
but…nothing
***
jabs and jibes
family banter
always the same
***
welcoming
the new arrival
from arm to arm
a carefree kick
***
how deep
smiles can be
to hide the unsaid
baby burp
***
hollow promises
would the coming year
really be better ?
“conceiving” dreams
***
I wonder
where the next spring will
take me along
rain clouds
***
everyone happy
perhaps it’s the
cool breeze
paper napkins
***
lavish spread
everyone picks
as per calories
***
baby talk
gurgles and giggles
a language perhaps
we ought to learn
***
saying goodbyes
once again
expectations of a
new arrival
balloon bursts

A deep and thought provoking poem Geeta. Thanks for joining in.

Absolutely. Jalebis can be used metaphorically too.

I like the quote in the first photo (sounds mind bending) and your poem, gc. I want to say next year is even better. I was thinking, why “was.”

You are right in pointing out the ‘was’ in the quote perhaps to make it more mind bending. Thanks a ton Hazel. Hope you’re rested now.

Still a bit low energy, but it’s manageable. My pleasure, gc

That’s a lovely perspective, Geeta. I must admit, I couldn’t understand the quote.

Thank you very much Indira. Yes the quote is difficult. Perhaps to tickle our imagination.
