In response to RDP Tuesday
Today’s Prompt : Celebration
The prayer hall.
The silence as always tranquilizing.
There were seekers already seated.
Shadows lingered with light.
A little more than an hour later …
I realised the emptyness.
Stepping outside towards the exit…
I saw her…
Sitting on a bench in the small passage.
Our eyes met.
We smiled instantly.
Strangers but a singular quest.
Did I see myself in her eyes ?
***
It was still dark.
Even the birds were asleep.
I walked slowly towards the temple – a copper pot balanced in my hand.
It was not so crowded.
Devotees poured their quiet offerings.
Amidst the soft chant of mantras.
Worship without flourish.
I walked out…
***
Crossing the narrow lane into the park.
A few walkers silently shared the path.
I paced unhurriedly.
The cadence of stillness.
The sky lightened in colour.
A young girl with a copper pot full to the brim.
Suddenly, she smiled, “Jai Bhole!”
I nodded back smilingly.
Strangers…
Yet…
***
A prayer rises to my lips
Let the world be trodden by
The Children of the Immortal
Peace
Peace
Peace
Let every pious prayer be
A celebration of peace.

A graceful reflection, GC.
A smile. A sincere prayer.
One simple greeting.
The celebration finds its way without any display.
