Leave a few words

Leave a few songs

Leave an untold tale

Before you are gone

So that

In the madness of spring

Listlessness of noon

In melancholy of dusk

and in silence of the night

I can

Let your heartbeat echo

Let the wind croon

Let the hands of time

Whisper the parable of love

To

The world that whizzes by

An un-listening sky

The blissfully ignorant ‘them‘

Who never bade you goodbye

This poem is hugely inspired by this Tagore song which my paternal aunt used to often sing in memory of my father, her elder brother, after his departure to heavenly abode.
