The ice encrusted pool reminds her of the valley she was born in.
Where she yearns to go back sit by the fireside, sip chai and chat with her parents and grandparents.
But they say it’s not safe now.
She wonders what is safe.
And makes a secret pledge.
One day she will return.
Even if it means climbing over man made walls.
Perhaps there will no longer be walls…
Only flowers and lakes and smiling faces.
I cross my fingers and say amen to that.

Geeta, here is the comment with corrections made. Will you please delete the other ones?
“Man made” is expressed here in all of its toxic, dysfunctional glory, Geeta. May it be neutralized for the good of the world. I hope her dreams are realized ❤

For some reason it reminded me of the Berlin Wall. I imagined someone who had escaped Soviet communism but who had left family behind.

Man is so good at putting up walls of all sorts, Geeta. I could feel her wistfulness. I hope her day comes.

An interesting little story, Geeta. It seems there are so many walls erected now, and not good.

Dear Geeta,
I join you in saying amen to that. Is anywhere safe these days? Lovely reflections.

Thank you very much Rochelle. I guess we can now safely say that we are not safe anywhere but there is no harm in praying and wishing for a better world.
