The Monolith

The building rose up to the sky – a straight, solid, vertical block. At the apex it suddenly broke into horizontal lines. The rays shimmered on its glassy facade  at sunrise and sunset.

I stood on the rampart opposite and stared at it. The edifice looked devoid of emotions – unmoved. However, the people stomping its innards were filthy, power hungry butchers who had robbed people of their rightful inheritance.

One day the monolith will have to be returned to its legitimate owners.

One day I will.
