AN INVITE (নেমনতন্নো)

At the end of the long winding alley
Is the supremely serene stream strolling by
In lazy gaiety waltz an endless stretch of
Green meadow lined with beds of riotous blooms
The pebbled street runs wild helter skelter
Through the fields and bumps unaware
Into the prim cottage standing lone
Open the wicker gate to skirt by the thicket
The fragrant brambles and the clambering
Branches of jasmine hugging the cold stones

As ye open the door with the huge brass knocker
The lively fire welcomes you aglow
The comfy cushions strewn hither thither
Beckons you to plonk on the warm floor
This is where we shall all meet again
The weekend next of this month of spring
Prancing like delicate butterflies
Ballerinas on dancing feet winged

Won’t ye all remember to join the gang
Even if ye know not the location exact
As ye look down into thy hearts
Ye shall find the abode of your friends intact
